Memo to academics: "The Great Shame of Our Profession."

"Schools should experiment ... At a minimum, evening, weekend and online courses — bearing credits offered at modest prices that can lead to workforce-ready certifications — should take their place in the strategic planning of every selective residential program."
--Emily J. Levine and Mitchell L. Stevens, "The Right Way to Fix Universities," NYT , Nov 30
Question to the learned (and presumably tenured) authors of this rather fanciful essay: Who would actually implement the above suggestions? Underpaid and exploited "adjuncts," the slaves of academia? (on adjuncts, see https://www.chronicle.com/art…/The-Great-Shame-of-Our/239148). BTW, whenever I hear the term "strategic planning" I take out ... my book of poetry ...
How the humanities survive on exploitation.
